The Michigan Home Help Program
Get Paid to Care for Someone You Love
You already make her meals. You already help him to the bathroom at three in the morning. You already drive to every appointment.
Through Michigan’s Home Help program, family members, friends and neighbors can be paid to care for a loved one on Medicaid. Almost nobody tells you that.
Honey Bee handles the part that makes people give up: the application, the medical certification, the caseworker, the background check, CHAMPS enrollment, timekeeping and payroll. You do the caring. We do the paperwork.

Who generally cannot
Spouses, and parents of a child under 18. Ask us anyway. There may be another door.

How It Works
- 1
We check
One short phone call. We confirm your loved one's Medicaid and whether the care you already give counts.
- 2
We file
Application, medical certification, caseworker visit, background check, CHAMPS enrollment. All of it. This is the part that makes people quit, so we do it.
- 3
You get paid
Approved hours, real paychecks, on a schedule. You keep doing what you were already doing.
Eligibility, approved services and authorized hours are decided by the program, not by us.
Nobody should have to guess
Who Pays for Care?
Most families assume they’re paying out of pocket. Most families are wrong. Here are the four doors, and we’ll walk you through whichever one fits.
Coverage depends on each program’s rules, and those rules change. We’ll tell you where you actually stand before you spend anything.
Already have a quote from another agency?
Send it over. We’ll go through the services, the schedule and the price with you, and check whether Medicaid, MI Choice or the VA covers part of it before you spend a dollar of your own. Changing agencies? Ask how fast we can move you.

Everything That Makes a Day Work
Every care plan is built around the person, not a package. Tell us what a hard day looks like and we’ll build the schedule around it.
Personal Care & Hygiene
Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and transfers, handled with dignity.
Homemaking & Companionship
Meals, laundry, light housekeeping, errands, and somebody to actually talk to.
Mobility & Fall Prevention
Safe transfers, walking support, and a home set up so nobody ends up on the kitchen floor.
Dementia & Alzheimer's Care
Patient, trained and unhurried. We meet them in the day they're having.
Respite & Short-Term Care
Relief for the family caregiver. A weekend, a week, or every Tuesday.
Live-In & 24-Hour Care
Someone there through the night, so the whole house finally sleeps.

A hive of very good people.
“Bees spend their whole lives making something sweet for everybody else. So did the people we take care of, and we figure that earns them the good stuff.”
We answer the money question first.
Most agencies only take private pay. We work every door, so we rarely have to tell a family we can't help.
We're nine miles up the road.

We do the paperwork.
Applications, enrollment, the caseworker, timekeeping, payroll. You should be spending that time with them.
The plan is built around the person.
Not a package. Tell us what would make the day safer and easier, and we build the schedule around that.
